Our Team

Yevgeniy (Jay) Serebrenik, PI

Jay completed his postdoctoral work with Dr. Ophir Shalem at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he developed CRISPR-based functional genomics tools to study protein quality control at scale. He earned his Ph.D. at Yale University under the guidance of Dr. Craig Crews, developing chemical biology tools to study targeted protein degradation and proteostasis in the Golgi apparatus.

Katherine Larrimore, Research Associate I

Kathy is a Research Associate I in the Serebrenik Lab. She received her Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 2015 on her work developing recombinant therapeutic enzymes. She then completed postdoctoral training in Singapore studying proteostasis and cellular adaptation. In 2021, she joined the Lobel/Sleat lab at Rutgers to research treatments for neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorders. In the Serebrenik lab, she is exploring proteostasis at scale. Outside of her research, Kathy enjoys traveling and being outdoors.

Rahul Saxena, Graduate Student

Rahul is a graduate student in the Serebrenik Lab. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biotechnology from Amity University, India, in 2022. Following graduation, he joined as a Research Fellow at the Dept. of Biochemistry, A.I.I.M.S, India under the guidance of Dr. Bela Goyal, where he investigated molecular biomarkers of cancer-related inflammation in gallbladder cancer. In 2023, he began his doctoral studies in the Molecular Biosciences PhD program at Rutgers. Beyond his research, Rahul enjoys traveling and engaging in outdoor activities and photography.

Olivia Norris, Undergraduate Researcher

Liv is a 3rd year Chemistry student-athlete on the track team. Some of her interests outside the lab are reading and watching movies.

Ahil Tomy, Undergraduate Researcher

Ahil is a 1st year student majoring in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. Outside the lab, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and cooking.
